The Year I Stopped Ignoring My Heart

The Year I Stopped Ignoring My Heart

Jan 01, 2026

It's a new year, a good time to share one of my deepest life events.

Almost five years ago, I had a silent heart attack.

No dramatic collapse. No crushing chest pain. Just a strange, internal feeling I couldn’t place — and I walked around for days not knowing what was happening inside my body.

For years, I couldn’t speak about it boldly. It felt too personal, too surreal. But I’m ready now. Because if it happened to me — a woman doing all the “right” things — it can happen to you.

Doing Everything “Right”

I exercised. Ate clean. Prioritized wellness. Took supplements. I thought I was protected.
Yet, I carried a hereditary risk factor I couldn’t see.
My cardiologist said something I’ll never forget:

“Your wellness foundations saved your life.”

The habits I had built — metabolic health, muscle, sleep, nervous system care — literally protected me from worse outcomes. This isn’t about perfection. It’s about preparation.

The Symptom No One Warns You About

There was no dramatic chest pain. Just a subtle “off” feeling.
Women experience heart events differently than men:

  • Vague internal discomfort
  • Unusual fatigue
  • Minor breath changes
  • A sense that something isn’t right

High-functioning women override these signals. We tell ourselves: stress, hormones, travel, a busy season. Especially if you live globally, manage transitions, and build careers — stress becomes your baseline. And chronic stress quietly taxes the heart.

What Are You Going to Make It Through?

This is the question that shifted everything for me:

When life hits — illness, stress, travel, loss — is your body strong enough to make it through?

Your heart is not just emotional. It’s metabolic. Muscular. Electrical. Vascular.
It requires:

  • Stable blood sugar
  • Adequate minerals
  • Healthy mitochondria
  • Low inflammation
  • Muscle mass
  • Deep sleep
  • Nervous system regulation

We don’t build that in a crisis. We build it quietly, daily, long before.

Five Years Later

I am stronger now than I was then. Not because I live in fear, but because I live in awareness.
I train differently. Recover differently. Protect sleep. Support my cells strategically. Manage stress like it matters — because it does.
I no longer dismiss subtle, “weird” feelings. And I can speak boldly because women need to know: this isn’t just for men or the unhealthy. This can happen to strong, capable, globally mobile women — and the difference between devastation and resilience is what you build today.

Let’s Talk About Your Heart

If you’ve had fears you haven’t voiced…
If you’ve felt something “off” but keep pushing through…
If you want to proactively protect your heart instead of waiting for a warning…

Get on my calendar.

We’ll look at:

  • Your stress load
  • Lifestyle patterns
  • Current foundations
  • Metabolic and nervous system resilience
  • A simple, actionable plan

Because the most empowered woman is the one who chooses action early.
Five years ago, I didn’t know my heart needed attention. Now I do. And if my story helps even one woman take her symptoms seriously — it wasn’t in vain.
This is the year we stop ignoring our hearts.
This is the year we build them strong.
