Re-pat and New Chapter

Re-pat and New Chapter

Oct 01, 2025

It’s been 90 days since we moved back from living in Japan.

Ninety days of unpacking boxes, emotions, and new beginnings.

For the first time since we left for China in 2017, my hubby and I plus all three of our boys are at the moment living in California. Not together but closer than ever before. Feels unreal. It's a gift I’ve been savoring deeply.

We've moved into our home on the hill, a space that already feels like us.

But it's not the same as we left it.

Every room is full of memories of the past plus the hum of possibility.

A few milestones worth celebrating:

Hosting my dad’s 80th birthday dinner. True beauty of repatriating is family.

Watching my youngest step confidently into freshman year of college life.

Supporting my middle son as he preps to move to start his Boston chapter.

Cheering as my oldest begins his first-time homebuyer journey.

So much transition. So much pride. So much growth.

And in between all the family moments, I’ve been carving out time for me.

Joining fitness classes at my club. Rebuilding my routines. Following up with business and personal friends. Reconnecting with my energy. And wandering through familiar streets in a city I once called home, keeping some memories close, and letting go of the ones that no longer serve me.

While navigating through this season of settling, I’ve been quietly building something new. It's something that brings together everything I’ve lived and learned as an expat, repat, and global soul:

🌍 The Expat Collective Community - a space for expats, repats, and digital nomads who’ve traversed the space of experience and belonging.

It’s where reality meets mindset meets passion.

Where we connect, grow, and lift each other as we navigate life across the different chapters, the seemless borders and constant transitions.

If this resonates, send me a message or comment below to learn more about how you can join The Expat Collective Community and connect with women who have metaphorically walked in your shoes. Whether you're an expat experiencing a chapter of change, or a repat just trying to fit into "home" again....I'm collecting my people!

Here’s to 90 days back in the old life with a new chapter.

To grounding and growing.

To remembering and reimagining.

To building a life that feels intentional, empowered, and unapologetically joyful.
