Article at a Glance:

Eating is a part of everyday life, and the food you ingest is a crucial part of your body’s growth process. Just like a car needs gas to drive, your body needs food in order to work properly. The kind of food you eat can make a big difference in your energy levels and overall health. It’s important to make sure you are eating foods that give your body nutrients. Nutrients are substances in food that help build, protect, and energize your body. However, with modern diets and processed food, it is becoming harder and harder to absorb all the nutrients we need as part of a well-balanced diet. This is why doTERRA scientists formulated the Lifelong Vitality Pack®, to provide users with essential nutrients that promote energy and support optimal health.*

Nutrients

There are two main types of nutrients: macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients refer to the nutrients your body breaks down to use for energy and are needed in large amounts to help your body grow and remain healthy. Micronutrients are nutrients your body only needs in small amounts. Both types of nutrients are essential for a strong, healthy body.

Macronutrients

There are three important macronutrients that your body needs every day. These are carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.

  • Carbohydrates:
  • Carbohydrates, also known as “carbs”, give your body energy. When you eat foods that have carbs, your body will turn the carbs into glucose, or sugar, that helps your body stay awake and active. Try to avoid less healthy carbs, like white bread and soda. Instead, target good sources of carbs including whole grains, rice, oats, fruits, and vegetables.
  • Protein:
  • Protein gives your body energy and helps build your muscles, skin, and organs. You can get protein from many different foods including leafy greens, meat, beans, peas, eggs, and nuts.
  • Fats:
  • Fats also give your body energy and help your body absorb nutrients, such as fat-soluble vitamins and some minerals. The body uses fat in many important functions, such as muscle movement and creating your cell membranes, the outer cover that protects your cells. We need fat in our diet, but it’s important to remember balance when eating fats.
  • Essential Fatty Acids:
  • Essential fatty acids are a group of fat molecules that your body needs to be healthy, but that the body can’t produce on its own. They are called omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. These fatty acids support cell growth, brain development, and so much more. Omega-3 fatty acids typically come from fish oils, but they can also be found in walnuts, chia seeds, brussels sprouts, and spinach. xEO Mega® is another great source of omega-3 fatty acids. xEO Mega has been specially formulated to be used daily with doTERRA Microplex VMz® as a comprehensive dietary supplement foundation for a lifetime of vitality and wellness.

Micronutrients

Micronutrients, also known as vitamins and minerals, come from many different food sources, including fruits, vegetables, and some animal products. In addition to the food you eat, supplements such as doTERRA Microplex VMz can be a great way to get important nutrients that are often deficient in our modern diets. doTERRA Microplex VMz provides vitamins A, C, and E and 19 other essential vitamins and minerals to support normal growth, function, and maintenance of your cells.* Keep reading to learn about a few different kinds of micronutrients and how they maintain the health of your body:

  • Vitamin A:
  • Vitamin A is important for vision, bone growth, and the immune system. Good food sources include carrots, kale, and red peppers.
  • Vitamin B:
  • There are multiple B vitamins. B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin, folic acid, biotin, and pantothenic acid play a role in making red blood cells and producing energy. Good food sources include whole grains, fish, meat, eggs, leafy green vegetables, beans, and peas.
  • Vitamin C:
  • Vitamin C is needed for a strong immune system. Good food sources include bell peppers, sweet potatoes, and oranges.
  • Calcium:
  • Calcium supports bone health and helps your muscles work properly. Good food sources include dairy products, soy products, green leafy vegetables, and seaweed.
  • Vitamin D:
  • Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium. It is great for bone growth and health. Good food sources include fatty fish such as salmon and tuna, and dairy (milk and cheese). Your body is also able to make vitamin D when your skin absorbs sunlight.
  • Vitamin E:
  • Vitamin E is an antioxidant and is important for protecting your body from potentially harmful substances called free radicals. It also plays a role in the health of your red blood cells. Good food sources include sunflower seeds, almonds, and turnip greens.
  • Magnesium:
  • Magnesium is important for strong bones and muscles. Good food sources include green leafy vegetables, broccoli, and sunflower seeds.

It’s important to remember to eat many different kinds of foods to obtain all the nutrients your body needs. You may have a favorite fruit or vegetable, but don’t be afraid to try other foods as well.

Energy

Energy is created and lost in many ways. We need energy to survive, and sometimes, it feels like there isn’t enough to go around. So, people often resort to stimulants like caffeine to power through the day. However, these stimulants can interfere with our body’s natural processes by competing with adenosine, a neurotransmitter involved with energy and focus. doTERRA’s Mito2Max® Energy & Stamina Complex was formulated as a healthy, natural alternative to stimulant infused drinks and supplements. Mito2Max doesn’t contain caffeine or other stimulants, yet enhances physical and mental stamina using high levels of Acetyl-L-Carnitine, Cordyceps, American Ginseng Root Extract, Ginkgo Leaf Extract, Ashwagandha Root Extract, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Coenzyme Q10, and Quercetin Dihydrate.* These ingredients work together to provide physical and mental energy and vitality.*

Probiotics

To get the most out of the foods you eat, you want to support your digestive system which consists of your teeth, tongue, esophagus, stomach, and small and large intestines. Each plays an important role in breaking down food so you are able to get the nutrients you need. Your digestive tract is home to trillions of probiotic bacteria that help with the breakdown of your food. Making sure these good bacteria are supported will help maintain your digestive health and is an important part of nutrition. Sources of this good bacteria include yogurt, sauerkraut, and kefir. PB Assist+® is another excellent source that can be used to supplement these foods and support the healthy functioning of your digestive system.* This probiotic is packed with 6 billion CFUs per capsule of active probiotic cultures and soluble prebiotics that promote a positive balance of intestinal microflora for optimal digestive function.
